Using the database of the British police, Fearsquare shows a map of fear in the UK and you get points for attending these places.

But the idea is not to do this for fun, but to provide a service that shows what types of crimes have happened in that place. This is done by a simple Foursquare check in. There are three categories of crime: antisocial behavior, theft and violent crime.

Another useful example of the location-based social networks is donteat.at (I love the domain), which warns you when you check into a NYC restaurant that is at risk of being closed for health code violations. This service only works in New York and Fearsquare in the UK – but with a promise to get other countries.
